Father Sebastian Bishop Cyryl Klimovicz, of the Diocese of Irkutsk has appointed Rev. Father Sebastian Marian D’Silva to be the new pastor of Our Lady of the Pacific, the Catholic parish at Nakhodka.

Fr. Sebastian was born on April 9, 1955, in Mangalore, India. In 1970 he joined the missionary diocese Meerut in northern India, near New Delhi. In 1972 he joined the major seminary, St. Albert’s College in Ranchi, and was ordained a diocesan priest on May 15, 1981, in his hometown of Mangalore. Fr. Sebastian then worked in five different parishes in the diocese of Meerut. On May 11, 2003, Fr. Sebastian came to the diocese of Irkutsk, Russia, to work with the Vladivostok mission. In a recent series of E-mails, Father Sebastian described the challenges he will be facing at Nakhodka.  The current

I will be leaving Vladivostok on Sunday, the 15th of April in the morning and will be taking charge of my new parish at Nakhodka on that same day. I will say Mass at 4 PM. Nakhodka is a small parish and number of parishioners around 60 families. At present the Mass is said in a apartment but there is a plan to build a small church. In the chapel apartment at Nakhodka, there is not hot water facillity. So I bought a new water heater and went to Nakhodka and got it fixed. Now I came to know that the previous pastor has not payed the telephone bills and so no telephone, no internet etc. So it looks that I have to start living there with no facilities.

In the parish there is only catecheses and “women support centre”. In the US or around the world it is known as I think, women pregnancy crises support centre.
I would like to have St. Vincent de Paul conference, and work among the street children and with the homeless people.
The women support centre gets $250 per month, out of which $ 160 could be spent for the office expenses and the rest is spent on the women who come for help!!!!!!!!!. Can you imagine a women support centre which runs in the chapel apartment and does not have telephone and internet.

So I have lot of problems to sort out. I found out that because of the financial problem, the previous pastor left the country. He was not interested in making projects and get money and so on. I hope slowly slowly things will be cleared out. <>So please pray for me, so that I will be able to work in my new parish. The people over there in my new parish are happy about that I became their new pastor. <>Any way God is Good and He will look after. So write to me on the following e mail address only.
